“Pessimists complain about the wind; superficial optimists hope it will change direction; while “realistic dreamers” adjust their sails accordingly.” Fr. Emilio Cicconi concluded his meditation today with this picturesque image’a true vademecum for our upcoming Chapter activities, which he set forth in six points with great warmth and in a profoundly Pauline spirit. Actually, all the points he made can be summarized in the first: To fully collaborate with the grace of God, adopting the attitude of the woman in Luke 15:8-10, so as to rediscover/revive the gift we have received.
Fr. Cicconi then invited us, in this Centenary Year of the Pauline Family, to give our sisters not only and not so much a Chapter Document that will be carefully placed on a shelf in one’s room, but instead “a big dream” that will make us “sing the future of God” in spite of our limitations. His words made us smile but they also prompted us to reflect profoundly.
Our spiritual exercises concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration. This afternoon, the Chapter delegates will have a few hours of free time before Sr. Antonieta Bruscato, Superior General, officially opens the 10th General Chapter tomorrow, 22 August, with a presentation of the Chapter’s Iter (Mode of Procedure). The delegates will examine the Iter to see if it requires any adjustments and then approve it. From that point on, the Iter will regulate the work of the Chapter.
Sisters, we count on your support and prayers more than ever now. Please continue to follow our activities on the Chapter website and to “flood” us with your messages.
During our breaks we cluster around the bulletin board on which they are posted and read them with great pleasure.
